Äkäslompolo, (finnisch lappland)

Wir verbrachten unsere Weihnachten 2018 in Äkäslompolo, in Finnland. Circa eine Stunde westlich vom Flughafen in Kittilä. Bei der Ankunft betrug die Aussentemperatur - 24 grad. Dabei gefroren einem sogar die Wimpern ein. Im Verlaufe der Woche wurde es wärmer.

Die Region um Äkäslompolo eignet sich für alle möglichen Wintersportarten. Sogar alpines Skifahren ist in dem naheliegenden Ylla's auf ausreichend und teilweise sogar beleuchteten Skipisten, möglich. Wir haben uns mit Langlauf (freie Technik, Skis bei SISU gemietet), Schneeschuh-Tour auf den Hügel Kuer, und Hundeschlitten-Fahren beschäftigt. Einfach traumhaft!! Übernachtet haben wir in einer, bei dem Reiseveranstalter Kontiki, gemieteten Blockhütte am Rande des Dorfes. (Die Schneeschuhe waren im Package enthalten). Essen kann man in einem der diversen Restaurants im Dorf oder man deckt sich im grossen Markt mit dem nötigsten ein und kocht in seiner Blockhütte. Wir haben beides gemacht. Wir haben in keinem Restaurant schlechte Erfahrungen gemacht, besonders positiv ist uns jedoch die Bedienung und das Essen im Restaurant Otso aufgefallen.

Am Ende unseres Aufenthalt haben wir noch das Snowvillage auf halben Wege zwischen Äkäslompolo und Kittilä besucht, Das komplett aus Eis und Schnee bestehende Hotel wurden unter dem Thema "Game of Thrones" gestaltet. Sehr, sehr eindrücklich.

We spent our Christmas 2018 in Äkäslompolo, in Finland. About an hour west of the airport in Kittila. On arrival, the outside temperature was - 24 degrees. It even frozen the eyelashes. It got warmer during the week.

 The region around Äkäslompolo owns itself for all possible winter sports. Even alpine skiing is possible in the nearby Ylla on sufficient and sometimes even illuminated ski slopes. We have dealt with cross-country skiing (free technique, skis rented at SISU), snowshoe tour on the Hill Kuer, and dog sled driving. Simply fantastic!! We stayed in a, at the tour operator Kontiki, rented log cabin on the edge of the village. (The snowshoes were included in the package). You can eat in one of the various restaurants in the village or you can cover up in the big market with the most necessary and cooking in his cabin. We did both. We did not have any bad experiences in any restaurant.

At the end of our stay we visited the snow village on half way between Äkäslompolo and Kittilä. The hotel was completely made of ice and snow and was designed under the theme "Game of Thrones". Very, very impressive.
